As we wrap up the 2016 spring season we can reflect on all of the great times we had. Take some time to thank your coaches, volunteers, and advisers because my guess is that they are all volunteers donating time to this great sport. As a coach it’s important to reward these athletes not only for score but for the goals they set and accomplished. Each season we have our kids write down their goals on a note card and turn that into the coach. Throughout the season our coaches continue to work with the athletes to achieve their goals. Surprisingly enough many of the goals we see are not about scores. Some are to “Make new friends”, to “Learn new techniques”, and my favorite “To have FUN”. This sport and specifically this league are unique where we focus on the FUN first and competition second.
Remind your athletes that just because the season has come to a close that does need mean the shooting needs to cease. We encourage our athletes to continue practicing throughout the summer and into fall. They will be amazed at how they start next season just by throwing down a few extra rounds this year.
Congratulations and THANK YOU to all of the OUTSTANDING coaches in this league. With out you and your tireless efforts for these kids we would never be this far along. We hope to see all of you back in the spring!!
